my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A big thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Books for this Arc in exchange for an honest review.  This book follows a girls field hockey team as they begin their season highly anticipated season. The story pulls the reader in by diving  into the brains of adolescent girls as they navigate the politics of high school athletics on a state winning team. Beginning with the "jersey ceremony," the girls navigate one night of fun and betrayal as they struggle to earn the title of Wildcat. I connected so heavily with this story. Growing up I was an athlete for most my life and I felt every moment these girls went through. I felt the anger, the insecurity, trying to fit in, the politics of being a captain and the pressure to be perfect. I connected to many experiences these girl went through including watching my friends struggle with a toxic coach, The story is broken down into different views which I loved because it allowed me to connec...

The Storm Keeper's Island by Catherine Boyle

my rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This middle-grade novel is Irish folktale inspired story featuring two young siblings being sent to live with there eclectic Grandfather, the Storm Keeper of Arranmore Island. This was such a beautiful story. The Boyle family is has easily become one of my favorite book families. The sibling relationship between Tara and Finn is both real and heartfelt. The main character Fionn is such a well rounded character and I loved watching him grow throughout the story. I loved the fantasy wrapped into the story and the folktale elements. I found the book a great comfort in an age that desperately needs light added to darkness. I can't wait to continue this story.

Quick note and Red Rising: Sons of Ares Vol:1 Issues #1-6 Review

I apologize I've been behind these few weeks because of birthdays and then with Coronavirus fiasco. We've had some shifts and areas to navigate through and it's been a challenge. Below is a quick read that I enjoyed recently and wanted to share. I also finished two other books but because at the request of the publishers, I will be putting those up closer to their release dates at the end of the month. Thank you so much for stopping by! my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a graphic prequel to the actual Red Rising novel series. This story follows Fitchner and Bry, the parents to Servo. This story is an action packed forbidden romance that ends in disaster. The art is raw and gritty which fits in perfect to the nature of the story. Graphic novels are a new venture for me and I am glad I picked this up. It amazes me how authors can write a good story with minimal amount of words. If you love Red Rising this is a must read. I enjoyed it and definitely will be reading volume...

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles

my rating: ⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Huge thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.  This story is a fantasy romance following Kallia, an ex-showgirl, as she breaks away from her master and strikes out to become a magician. This story was pitched as a Caraval and Phantom of the Opera type story. I agree with Phantom of the Opera but not with Caraval. The only Caraval comparison could be the contest that takes place. But in my opinion, the contest was vastly different from the "game" in Caraval.  Overall, the story was fine. I think the author did a great job with the angsty romance of the story. Most the time, I like romance as a sub-plot but the author made it work so well in the forefront that I didn't mind it. The magic system was simply put and did not blow me away. I did feel the plot of the story could have been cut down. Nothing happened in the first 60% of the book. Yes, there was contest. Yes, there were murders but they did nothing t...
