The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ O.W.L.s read to fulfill Divinations or a book that is random on your to-be-read (TBR.) This story is a fantasy novel that follows the cunning, ambitious Alessandra as she manipulates her way into the castle of the Shadow King. The plan is to seduce him, marry him, kill him and claim his kingdom for herself. However, things don't quite go as planned. Slytherin romance is how this description is given and it lives up to it beautifully. If you are looking for morally grey loveable characters this book is for you. This book is a simple read that is well written and contains a refreshing plot line. The characters were intriguing, dynamic and developed well throughout the story. My favorite character was the Shadow King. His character was deep and multilayered. I easily fell in love with him along with the main female character. I loved the female protagonist; she was unapologetic with a no-nonsense attitude. All this put together made for a great read tha...

I have completed some books for my OWLs! Yay! So far I have completed Charms or book with a white cover. This was my selection for one subject of my choosing. Next, I completed History of Magic or a book featuring witches or wizards. Last, I'll need Muggle Studies which requires a contemporary book. I haven't chosen one yet but it'll be coming soon. This will be my last subject and then I will be done! YAY!  How is everyone doing this season? Did you pass already? What are your book choices?

Magical Readthon O.W.L.s 2020

Welcome back to my blog! Thank you for visiting. As many of you know already, the 2020 O.W.L.s Readathon hosted by Booktuber Book Roast is now upon us for the month of April.   This year I have chose to participate and after "consulting with my career advisor," I have chosen...drum roll...Journalist or Writer. Shocking I know. So here is what is required for me to pass my "exam." The way it works is you find your career in the guidebook. I'll link it here: Wizarding Careers Guidebook 2020 here . You pick your "career" (mine being Journalist or Writer) and then these course are what you are required to complete for OWLs. So as seen above, they are History of Magic, Muggle Studies and a subject of my choosing. So these "courses" are now linked to reading prompts. So for my reading to pass my OWLs, I must choose three books; History of Magic or a book featuring witches or wizards, a subject of my choosing, I am picking Charms or a book...

Imagine Me by Tahereh Mafi

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ok, so I wanted to take some time out to mull this over before I write this review because I needed to get my thoughts in order. Overall, the book was fine. It gave me the ending I needed to walk away knowing that these characters will carry on and that they will ok. I'm ok with that. That's really all I needed by this point. I enjoy Tahereh's books because as a writer I love the emotion she's captures when she's writing her characters. The emotions are real, detailed and makes me feel empathy for her characters. I felt like there was a good balance between the plot and the characters. The plot and the characters pushed forward smoothly and complimented each other well. I am ok with how things turned out in this novel and I am ok with the series ending at this point. I can't wait to see what Tahereh's next endeavor is.  Overall, I gave it 3 stars. It does the job and ends the series in a way that there is closer for the readers. Would...

Graphic Novel: Gotham High by Melissa de la Cruz

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Big thanks to Netgalley and DC Comics for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This story is a twist on Batman and what his life might have been like if he had to navigate high school. The art is beautiful and the take on Gotham City High was fun and unique. This was such a fun read. I enjoyed the plot line and the relationships between the characters. I enjoyed the back story the author created and how it played out throughout the story. I definitely will be continuing with this series in the future. Here is some cool art from the comic. Thank you to Warner Brothers and DC Comics for access to these awesome pages!
