Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Ok, I needed some time to chew on this one to really figure out how I feel about it. So here it is, it was fine. The main characters have a ton of depth and I feel like they were developed well. They have strong female leads which I am always down for. However, I just didn't find myself actually caring enough about them to continue with the series. This is a fat book with a super slow plot line. There is some romance but it is super light in this particular book. I have heard it picks up in the continuing books. The writing is great and I have zero complaints. All and all, it's a good book. I just don't care enough about the plot or the characters to continue the series. But if you like epic fantasy with parallel plot lines then you'll probably like this book.


I gave this 3 out 5 stars because there is nothing wrong with the writing and I would recommend to a friend. I just have no desire to continue to read the series.

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Huge thanks to Random House Children and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.  I know this story is suppose to be in comparison to Sorcery of Thorns and Furyborn but don't think that is an accurate comparison. The story didn't put an emphasis on libraries and there were more characters involved rather than the protagonist heavy Furyborn. This was such a fun simple story. Jennesara is a princess born with magic she was never suppose to inherit. On the way to her betrothed, her wagon is attacked and she is stranded in a magic forest. Jennesara escapes, is picked by up the royal guard and taken to the castle of her betrothed. Under a false name, she does her best to save her kingdom and the prince she comes to love. Magical Readthon O.W.L.s 2020

Welcome back to my blog! Thank you for visiting. As many of you know already, the 2020 O.W.L.s Readathon hosted by Booktuber Book Roast is now upon us for the month of April.   This year I have chose to participate and after "consulting with my career advisor," I have chosen...drum roll...Journalist or Writer. The story pulls the reader in by diving  into the brains of adolescent girls as they navigate the politics of high school athletics on a state winning team. Beginning with the "jersey ceremony," the girls navigate one night of fun and betrayal as they struggle to earn the title of Wildcat. I connected so heavily with this story. Growing up I was an athlete for most my life and I felt every moment these girls went through. I felt the anger, the insecurity, trying to fit in, the politics of being a captain and the pressure to be perfect.
