The Hunt by Frost Kay
my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much to Frost Kay for sending me an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Review post:
Frost Kay is easily one of my favorite indie authors. She’s easily as good a writer as Sarah J Maas and Sabaa Tahir. I’ve read her other series in the past including one of my favorite series of all time The Armenian Feuds. This book, The Hunt, follows Tempest as she ascends to a Hound and joins the King’s elite guard. Upon her ascension, she is given a task to kill the Jester, a man responsible for the killings of neighboring villages. The writing did not disappoint and again the characters are addictive. I couldn’t put this series down. As following with Ms. Kay’s writing style this book is a setup for the books coming in the future. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with!
Ok, now on to my thoughts. I really enjoyed the overall story of this book. Frost Kay still remains one of my favorite authors and why she doesn't get more recognition, I have no clue. Frost Kay usually spends her first book setting up for future books in the series so the story may seem incomplete at first. Again, this is her writing style so it does require patience in that regard. Overall, I love Tempest, she's a girl going through it as the rug is ripped out from underneath her because she discovers her life and the people she loves is not what they seem. I love love love the Jester. His character was so well written. Personally I just enjoyed the crap out of his scenes in the book. I love the dynamic between him and Tempest because they are such opposites in everything. I love the setup for the villain in this book. Frost Kay writes such solid villains and I can already see The King being a huge success.
I'm so excited for the future of this series. Frost please hurry up!
